Jim Harrison

At the age of 15, Jim’s first solo motorcycle ride was on a rented Yamaha 80.  Later on that same day and due to his extensive  experience acquired earlier that day, his second ride was on a Harley.  He has been hooked ever since.

His first Harley was a black 1977 Sportster XLCH (AMF, 1000cc, Kick-Start).  HeI bought it in early summer 1977 right out of the crate for a whopping $2800.  He put about 2000 miles on it that summer and sold it when winter set in.  He got what he paid for it and put the money in the bank.

The following summer, he bought his second Harley, also a black 1977 Sportster.  This one was an XLH (Electric Start).  He used the money from the sale of the previous Sportster and added $50 because of the push button start.  Right out of the crate for $2850.  He sold this one also at the start of that winter.  He doesn’t remember what he did with the money!

For years he has been hinting to his wife Pattie that he would like to get another Harley.  She rented one for him on his 50th Birthday in the hopes of getting it “out of his system”.  It didn’t.  If anything, it rekindled the flame.  Jim currently rides a 2006 Dyna Wide Glide (he named her Sara) that he purchased the day before Mother’s Day this year.  And, yes, he is still married.  He has been riding with a couple neighborhood Harley friends (and a Honda Aspencade guy!) for most of the summer and is looking forward to more great rides with new friends he has already made at his first HOG Chapter meeting and subsequent Poker Run.  Welcome aboard Pattie and Jim.
